Murmansk — the largest city behind the Polar circle. It was founded in 1916 and carried the name ‘Romanov-on-Murman’. Despite its northern arrangement, climate is very moderate, it is seldom lower than -20 C. The reason is The North Atlantic current that gives its warmth to the north shore of Kola Peninsula. The city lies on hills along Kola Bay, so you can see the wonderful panoramas, city views and the nature surroundings from above. The history of the city lasts for only one century but it saved up a lot of events: opening of the largest northern port in the world, exploration of Khibiny mountains and Arctic region. This and much more you learn on your sightseeing tours around the Hero City Murmansk.
